The guide

SEO for small businesses.

You do not need a big budget to start. Do the basics in the right order and skip what does not matter yet.

Short answer: for a small business, SEO means making sure customers who search for what you offer can find a fast, clear website, and that Google can read it. Start with the basics: get indexed, give each service a page, keep your details consistent and make the site work well on a phone.

Do you need SEO?

Usually yes, if you want new customers to find you through search. A website alone does not make people find you. SEO matters less if every customer comes from referrals, social media or ads, but most businesses benefit from being found when people search for what they offer.

What to do first

  1. Check that Google can find your site. Set up Google Search Console and confirm your pages are indexed. If they are not, read why your site isn’t showing on Google.
  2. Give each service its own page. A page for haircuts, a page for coloring, a page for the menu. Say what you offer, where you work and how to book.
  3. Write for real questions. Add short, direct answers to what customers ask, such as price ranges you are comfortable sharing, opening hours and how booking works.
  4. Keep your details the same everywhere. Your name, address and phone number should match on your site and your listings.
  5. Make it fast on a phone. Most local searches happen on mobile, so compress images and keep pages simple.
  6. Claim your Google Business Profile if customers visit you in person, and keep it complete. Read what is local SEO.
  7. Track what matters. Watch calls, bookings and messages, not only visits.

What you can skip for now

  • Buying links or “SEO packages” that promise page one.
  • Posting on every social network just for SEO.
  • Long articles on topics your customers do not search for.
  • Chasing broad keywords like “seo” before your basics work.

Do it yourself or hire help?

Many owners can do the basics themselves. Consider help if your pages are not indexed, your site is slow, you do not know what is wrong, or you would rather spend your time on the business. Ask for a written scope, and see how much SEO costs in the Philippines and how to choose a specialist.

How I help small businesses

I work on the website side: crawling and indexing, structure, speed, structured data and clear pages for salons, barbershops, restaurants and local shops. See my services or the SEO audit, which is where most projects start.
